Structural Model of Successful Aging, A Case Study of Retired staff of Education in Behbahan based on Religious and Non-Logical Beliefs Mediated by Life Purposefulness

Introduction: As an inevitable and critical stage in human life cycle, aging has always been in the focus of scholarly attention in different fields. With the increase of life expectancy and population growth of the elderly, the question of life quality after retirement has found more importance. In this context, much importance is attached to the retired educational personnel's regarding their long years of service and unique role in education and preparation of future generations. Therefore, the present study aims to provide a structural model of successful aging concerning retired staff of education based on their religious and non-logical beliefs through the mediating role of life purposefulness.
Methods: This study was descriptive-correlative using path analysis approach. The statistical population consisted of all the retired educational personnels in Behbahan, Iran, in the year 2025-2026, among whom 150 individuals were selected using nonrandom and targeted sampling and completed Zanjeri et al. (2019)'s successful aging questionnaire, Najafi (2015)'s religious beliefs questionnaire, Jones (1968)'s Non-Logical Beliefs questionnaire, and Krambaf and Maholic (1969)'s purposefulness of life questionnaire. Data analysis was performed using Pearson "s correlation method and path analysis through SPSSV19 and AMOSV20 software.
Results: The variables religious beliefs (0.316), Non-logical Beliefs (0.292), and purposefulness of life (0.286) had a direct and significant effect on successful aging. Besides, the variables religious beliefs (0.090) and Non-Logical Beliefs (0.068) hard a direct and significant effect on successful aging through purposefulness of life.
Conclusion: The presented successful aging model based on religious beliefs and non-logical beliefs mediated by the purposefulness of life had a desired fit, and therefore it can be help teachers and school principals as well as experts in the field of education to improve and enhance successful aging. |
